What is it?
A solar PV system converts sunlight into electricity using solar panels and an inverter.
The solar panels absorb sunlight and convert it into DC electricity.
The inverter converts the DC electricity intoAC electricity that can be used in the dwelling on which ever appliance is being used at that time.
The system is connected to the electrical grid and any excess electricity is fed back into the grid.
The system operates by absorbing sunlight and converting it into usable electricity.

Pre requirements
A Good roof condition
To have an electric form of heating present in the dwelling (if we are installing one then that qualifies also).
Have a low energy rating (E, F, G)
Battery storage
Battery storage refers to the use of rechargeable batteries to store excess electricity generated by a solar photovoltaic (PV) system
When asolar PV system generates more electricity than the home can use, the excess power is usually exported back to the grid.
with a battery storage system, the excess electricity is stored in a battery for later use when the solar panels are not generating enough power, such as at night or during cloudy weather.
Although, battery storage is not offered under ECO4, there are instances where it can be installed, and we do also have a private renewable department that also offers battery systems.
Common questions
We don't offer batteries under the eco scheme but do have a renewable department that may be able to price up the cost of the battery storage system for you.
No, any excess electricity produced will be sent back to the grid with no payment.
A solar PV system will not completely cover the cost of most dwellings electricity bills but will reduce them.
The amount of panels a dwelling receives will be dependent on the initial assessment of the dwelling.
Brackets are fixed to the rafters of the roof and then rails are fixed to the brackets which the panels fit on to.
This depends on the number of panels we can install and the amount of electricity they generate throughout the year.
Solar comes with a two-year quality mark guarantee and the inverters come with a five year warranty.
