We contacted Menai Heating Ltd in April as we needed to source a replacement compatible Heat Pump.  Matt Edwards arrived the following day and carried out a thorough site visit before providing quotes for a replacement pump.  We were impressed with his professional approach and detailed information and the installation of our chosen heat pump took place week commencing 20 May.  The work was carried out in a professional manner by all involved and we were fully informed of the process at every stage.  Our thanks to everyone: Matt for identifying the replacement pump and progressing the replacement; Louie and Cameron, and Mark and Freddie. Back in March 2024 I had a ASHP, loft/ceiling insulation, extractor fans  and solar panels fitted by Menai Heating under the EC04 grant.  I was initially very sceptical about changing from our old LPG gas boiler, but it was coming to the end of its life and was too expensive to run. I  looked at the Gwynedd Council web site and Menai Heating  was one of the approved installers.  I chose Menai Heating due to positive online reviews and  they are a company that have been around for many years with a good local reputation. From the very first phone call I made to Menai Heating I was impressed, no pushy sales talk, just lots of advice.  I can’t believe how straight forward the process was, once the initial survey was done, which was  very thorough  and the grant approved Erin rang and arranged all the install dates.  Again Menai were so helpful all the install dates were made around our prior commitments and once agreed I was  emailed a list of all the dates.
Mark came before the work began and completed a ventilation test.  Martin then visited and went  through where the equipment would  go and how many radiators ect are needed, again taking time to fully explain everything.  Will then came and explained all about the Solar Panels.  We were also interested in purchasing a battery at the same time.  Will went through all the information about the battery, again no pushy sales, we did go ahead and purchase a battery that was installed at the same time.
Steve was amazing and looked after the installation from beginning to end. He visited before they started and went through everything with us, he took his time and answered all our questions and made sure everything ran smoothly. He went around the house room by room and explained what would happen, what we would need to move etc.  His attention to detail makes sure the install goes without any hitches.  Steve was our contact throughout the install and if we had any questions he was always at the end of the line.
The first team to turn up were the lads that covered all the flooring and furniture to make sure there was no damage. Next came the electricians who made safe all the light fittings ready for the insulated plasterboard, then holes were drilled for the extractor fans.  The following day the insulated plaster board was installed as well as loft insulation.  The ceilings were plastered over the following two days and before leaving all the plastic floor/furniture coverings  were removed and the house hoovered.  The electricians came back and refitted all the light fittings and extractor fans. The plumbers came next, lifting floor boards,  removing  the old radiators and  pipework without causing any damage.  Before installing the new radiators they double checked everything with us.  Alan was in charge and his team where a credit to him especially Joe.  The plumbing of not only the radiators but also the ASHP and water tank and all the equipment that goes with it was so tidy.   Osian went through everything with us and made sure everything was running smoothly, he is great and very patient  making sure we understood how the ASHP worked.  Once the installation was complete Menai came back the very next day and removed all rubbish, including the old boiler, radiators, packaging ect.
Once the install was completed Steve came back and checked all the work and made sure we were happy and knew how everything worked.  All of the equipment comes with a guarantee and we have already received copies of the insured guarantee.
I cannot recommend Menai Heating enough, the standard of work, care and understanding was fantastic. They have given us a warm house at a fraction of  the cost of running the old gas boiler and wood burner.  I would not hesitate to recommend Menai Heating the way they handle the whole install from the moment you call them is like a well-oiled machine. Excellent service and work from this company in insulating outer walls  and installing an air sourced pump and solar panels at our property. All work was carried out to a high standard with no unsightly pipework on display, something that had been a concern of mine. This was no rushed installation. The company's Customer Liaison Officer, Steve ensured that we were kept informed throughout the process, was easily contactable to iron out any issues that arose and to ensure that all work was carried out as agreed. Erin who was based in the office was also a star. Very pleased with the resulting increase in warmth and decrease in the cost of heating. I had Menai Heating to install an air source heat pump, radiators, pipework and solar panels under the Eco4 scheme. I can’t thank Menai heating enough they were thorough, they were very professional and they took time to listen to me and evaluate my families needs and the properties needs, everybody was very professional and customer focused and couldn’t do enough to keep me happy and in the loop.

The install process was also a very positive experience Menai Heating have different teams which install different parts of the process, first the plumbers and heating engineers started removing the old  plumbing and radiators before the new system was installed This was definitely the biggest part of the job and was completed in one day which I was very surprised about, but it did mean that the whole process didn’t drag on. The contractors that came were very polite and respectful of my family and property and very nice people which always makes you feel good when you have people working on your house.

The next phase was having the solar panels installed and the two young men that turned up we’re also very good very nice and very friendly also respectful of my property and did an amazing job making the solar panels neat and lined with my neighbour’s install so it looked in keeping.

Final phase was connecting all the solar panels on the electric system and commissioning the boiler to get it working. This was also a very good experience with another respectful polite team who came and did a very tidy neat job giving me advice and tips and show me how things worked in a way I understood clearly.

So the whole process is taken about four days to complete, which was a lot quicker than I was expecting and that’s with day off in between so it was only three days from start to finish, Menai heating are an approved installer for Eco4 in my area and it’s easy to see why the council approved them with a quality of their workmanship and their customer focus and care I can’t thank them enough for what they’ve done for me and my household, Highly highly recommended, I don’t normally take this much time to write along review about a company so this does show how I feel about them.

Refuses to take on any jobs. Been advised by other companies to contact Menai Heating, but when I asked if they could help, said they couldn't, and advised me to go to my manufacturer, who advised the closest company was Chester. This is not a review of Menai Heating's standard of work but, for one of their representative's standard of driving in one of Menai's vehicles.
This incident involves the van shown in the picture with a registration number similar to WM67 TWL with the Menai livery displayed clearly. At 11:25 this morning, Tuesday 13th February 2023 on the A487 towards Bangor from Griffith's Crossing, I was driving a white Renault Clio when the individual driving this van nearly forced me off the road after deliberately overtaking where the two lane section was coming down to one lane. This was despite plenty of advanced warning signs and road markings. Furthermore, the road here has the national speed limit of 60 mph, I was showing 60 mph on my speedo but, the van was travelling much faster despite it having a vehicle class speed limit on that road of 50mph because, it's a works van (check this fact).
There was nothing behind me but, they continued to overtake and when alongside my vehicle they moved over aggressively causing me to have to slam the brakes on to avoid a collision or,  be forced off the road.  The van then tailgated the car in front of it for about two miles until, at the approach to the next roundabout, the van veered to the inside lane, undertook several cars and then moved back into the outside lane and entered the roundabout at speed, causing another van already on the roundabout to brake. I did think at this point the Menai van might have been stolen. I certainly wouldn’t want the driver of this van associated with any company of mine. Furthermore, I certainly won't be considering Menai for the installation of solar panels on my business premises after this experience. My wife, who took the picture below, was the passenger and she was very shaken by the dangerous driving. Unfortunately, the Renault we were in was a courtesy car. Just had a full installation from Menai heating through the Eco 4 grant for a detached cold damp house ,it's now transformed  .Absolutely superb service and work from every team and brilliant support from Steve, and the office staff.The care and attention to detail to ensure it goes well is second to none .I have seen other companies work on these grants and these guys go the extra mile. We had radiators ,heat pump ,solar panels ,internal insulation  , new skirting boards and replacement Internal wall window sills all for free .,they even Incorporated our current shower unlike other companies and got a carpet company to ensure carpet was under new skirting boards .pipework hidden where possible and neatly done where it shows and they literally wrap your house and belongings in plastic to prevent dust and damage. House has never been so cozy and not to worry about damp and mould such a relief .10 out of 10 highly recommend .
