This project was funded by Mantell Gwynedd through support from the Welsh Government, and installed by Menai.
Project installed in March 2024
The solar and battery upgrades at Rhiwlas Hall will enable the building to run on renewable electricity all year round, reducing its environmental impact and energy bills. As a vibrant hub for the community, these improvements support the hall’s ongoing role as a welcoming, sustainable space for local events, activities, and services.
This project was made possible through a strong partnership between local and national organisations. Funded by Mantell Gwynedd with support from the Welsh Government, the installation reflects a shared commitment to community resilience and climate action. By working together with trusted local installer Menai, the project not only delivered long-term energy benefits but also supported the local economy and skills development.
We installed 39, 430W solar panels on the southwest-facing roof of the town hall, maximising solar gain throughout the day.
The system is paired with a Solax X3-Ultra inverter and supported by six 5.8kWh batteries, three master units and three slave units, providing reliable energy storage and greater self-sufficiency.
Let's hear from Elfyn Jones, the chairman of Rhiwlas Community Centre.
