Menai fitting internal wall insulation to improve home energy efficiency.

what is retrofitting?

Retrofitting involves upgrading an existing building to improve its energy efficiency and lower carbon emissions. This typically includes improvements to insulation and heating systems, enhancing the building’s overall performance without the need for a full rebuild.

Retrofit Professionals at Menai

Retrofit Assessors

Our qualified Retrofit Assessors carry out PAS 2035-compliant assessments of your home, including an RdSAP energy assessment, a condition survey, and a ventilation report. This comprehensive data collection forms the foundation for any retrofit work, ensuring that proposed measures are appropriate, safe, and effective for your property.

Retrofit Co-ordinators

Our certified Retrofit Coordinators manage the end-to-end delivery of retrofit projects in accordance with PAS 2035. They assess risks, develop medium-term improvement plans, coordinate with all stakeholders, and ensure that every stage of the process, from design to installation, meets the required technical and regulatory standards.

Domestic Energy Assessors

Our Domestic Energy Assessors are qualified to produce Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) for existing homes using RdSAP methodology. Their assessments provide a baseline measure of your home's energy efficiency and help identify areas where improvements can be made as part of a wider retrofit strategy.

On Construction Domestic Energy Assessors

Our On Construction Domestic Energy Assessors are trained in SAP (Standard Assessment Procedure) and are responsible for assessing the energy performance of new builds or conversions. Their work ensures compliance with Part L of the Building Regulations and supports energy-efficient design from the outset of construction.

PAS 2035:2023

We are NAPIT certified to PAS2035:2023 standards.

PAS 2035 is the UK’s standardized framework for domestic retrofit projects, ensuring a whole-house approach to energy efficiency improvements. It mandates that all retrofit work follows a structured process involving assessment, design, installation, and evaluation, aligning with government-backed schemes like the Energy Company Obligation (ECO).

Available Funding

Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS)

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme offers government grants to support the installation of low-carbon heating systems, such as air source or ground source heat pumps. Homeowners can receive up to £9,000 to help cover the cost of replacing old, inefficient heating systems.

Community Project Grants

We also support community-led projects which may be eligible for additional funding through local or national schemes, such as the Ynni Cymru Capital Grant in Wales. These grants are aimed at developing Smart Local Energy Systems and supporting energy efficiency at a community level.
