What is the BUS Scheme?
As part of the government’s push to reduce carbon emissions, the Boiler Upgrade Scheme offers financial support for upgrading to low-carbon heating systems in homes and small non-domestic properties across England and Wales.
At Menai Heating, we’ll guide you through every step of the process and handle the Boiler Upgrade Scheme application on your behalf.
Current Boiler Upgrade Grants inlcude:
- £7,500 towards an Air Source Heat Pump
- £7,500 towards a Ground Source Heat Pump
- £5,000 towards an eligible Biomass Boiler
- £2,500 towards an Air-to-Air Heat Pump
Additional Support
for Off-Gas Properties
From 21 July 2026, eligible properties currently heated by oil or LPG may qualify for an enhanced grant of £9,000 towards an Air Source Heat Pump or Ground Source Heat Pump installation.
What do we install?
Upgrade your property with cutting-edge heat pump technology that delivers reliable, energy-efficient heating while reducing your carbon footprint.
Air Source Heat Pumps
An air source heat pump (ASHP) is a renewable heating system that works like a boiler but without burning fuel. Instead, it takes heat from the outside air, even in cold weather, and uses it to warm your home and hot water. It works similarly to a fridge but in reverse, moving heat into your home rather than out of it.
Ground Source Heat Pumps
A ground source heat pump is a renewable heating system that uses natural heat stored in the ground to warm your home and provide hot water. Instead of burning fuel, it draws heat from the earth via underground pipes and transfers it indoors. Even during winter, the ground remains at a stable temperature, making this system highly efficient all year round.
Coming Soon: Air-to-Air Heat Pumps
Air-to-air heat pumps have recently become eligible for support under the Boiler Upgrade Scheme and can provide both heating and cooling for your home.
We’re currently preparing to offer air-to-air heat pump installations and are awaiting final industry updates and certification processes before launching this service.
As soon as everything is in place, we’ll be able to offer the same expert design, installation and support that our customers expect from Menai Heating.
How do you qualify?
To benefit from the BUS grant, your property and chosen heating system must meet specific criteria. Our team will guide you through the eligibility checks and application process to make switching to low-carbon heating as straightforward as possible.
Property Eligibility
In order to be eligible for a BUS-funded installation, a property must:

- (retrofits only) have an existing fossil-fuel or electric heating system that’s being replaced by the BUS-funded installation
Properties cannot be:
