Enhancing reptile well-being through solar panels and battery storage.
Reptiles are ectothermic creatures meaning that they rely on heat to regulate their body temperature. They need environmental warmth to stay active and function properly.
The new reptile house was built in April 2023. Prior to this the reptiles were located all over the older building with outdated heating systems. Moving them to the new building was crucial as its much more insulated and having the backup system helps the running of the enclosure and the peace of mind of keepers.
We installed solar panels, a GivEnergy hybrid inverter and a GivEnergy solar battery in the reptile house at Pili Palas. The GivEnergy inverter can be coupled directly with the solar panels to generate usable electricity in the reptile house as well as store any excess energy in case of emergency for later use in the battery.
