This North Wales homeowner wanted to create a more energy-efficient home by bringing solar generation, battery storage and electric vehicle charging together within one complete system.
Working alongside Anglesey Roofing, our team installed an in-roof solar system designed to sit neatly within the roofline, creating a clean and integrated finish.
The completed system combines 24 solar panels, 12kWh of battery storage, a 5kW hybrid inverter and an EV charger, allowing renewable electricity to be generated, stored and used throughout the home.
The Project
The aim of the project was to design a renewable energy system that worked around the way the household uses electricity both now and in the future.
The homeowner wanted to generate renewable electricity during the day, store surplus energy for use when it was needed and make better use of solar generation when charging an electric vehicle.
By combining each technology within one carefully designed system, the property can make more effective use of the renewable electricity generated on site while reducing its reliance on electricity purchased from the grid.
A Clean, Integrated Solar Design
Rather than being mounted above the existing roof covering, the solar panels were installed as part of the roof itself.
Our team worked closely with Anglesey Roofing throughout the installation to create a neat and streamlined finish that sits flush with the surrounding roofline.
The 24-panel system was divided evenly across the property, with 12 panels installed on the front roof elevation and 12 on the rear, allowing the system to make effective use of the available roof space and generate renewable electricity throughout the day.
Storing Solar Energy for Later
During daylight hours, the solar panels generate renewable electricity that can be used directly within the home.
When the panels generate more electricity than the property requires at that time, surplus energy can be stored within the 12kWh battery system rather than being exported immediately to the grid.
The stored electricity can then be used later in the day, during the evening or whenever household electricity demand is higher, helping the homeowner make better use of the renewable energy generated by the system.
Renewable Energy for EV Charging
The addition of an EV charger allows the homeowner to make use of locally generated renewable electricity when charging their electric vehicle.
When solar generation is available, electricity produced by the panels can help meet the energy required by the home and EV charger. The battery provides additional flexibility by storing surplus generation for use at a later time.
Bringing solar panels, battery storage and EV charging together creates one connected system designed around the household’s changing energy needs.

The finished project combines renewable energy generation, energy storage and electric vehicle charging within one carefully designed home energy system.
